|
|
It has arrived. AU$350 from Aussie Ebay.
Please note: the mounting screws on the elements & boom were not done up tight. The yagi was loosely assembled for the photo shoot. That is why some of the elements look to slope down.
The package I found on the front porch.
The matching components.
The boom came in 3 sections. All securing holes come pretapped, ready for the screws to be inserted.
Attaching the first driven element. Please note that all the element sections are marked for easy assembly.
Attaching the second driven element.
Attaching the reflector.
Attaching the first director.
Attaching the second director.
The interesting phasing feed with a balun & with a hairpin match.
The finished yagi. _________________ 43SE144, Pete.

|
|
Now for the bad news, I cannot put the 5 ele yagi up until I buy a new & bigger rotator. My present rotator is only a small light duty model, it's ok for UHF, VHF or small 3 ele HF antennas.
I think I have come up with a solution for the interim time period. I have put the 2 driven elements & reflector on to their own boom, making a 3 element dual drive yagi. Today I'll be experimenting to see what the SWR is & maybe SWR it in by changing the element lengths a bit.
If all goes OK, the 3 element dual drive will be put up on my 11m mast on the small rotator untill I buy the new rotator.
Pictures will be posted later on this afternoon. _________________ 43SE144, Pete.
