A Cubical Quad is one of the best Antenna for DX'ing because she takes less QRM and the gain of a loop is one of the best, if you are able to do a loop antenna with perfects circles you would have the best antenna for DX.
(So contact me )...
I purpose you a plan for building your proper quad 4 elements which is better than a Yagi really an easy to build DX system:
http://www.fast-files.com/getfile.aspx?file=13057
Center Frequency: 27.500 MHZ
Bandwidth: 600 Khz without Matching box
SWR= 1
15 DBi Gain ! !
Length of each elements:
"A" = 11,16 Meters
"B" = 11,00 Meters
"C" = 10,20 Meters
"D" = 10,32 Meters
Length between "H" and "I" = 1.95 Meters
Length between "J" and "K" = 1.92 Meters
Length between "L" and "M" = 1.78 Meters
Length between "N" and "O" = 1.80 Meters
The Boom length in total = 5 Meters
length "E" between Element A and B = 1.66 Meters
length "F" between Element B and C = 1.31 Meters
length "G" between Element C and D = 1.31 Meters
You can feed the B element directly with 50 Ohms Coaxial.
You needn't any balun or matching system...
The plan was in French and I've tried to translate it, so if you need more details give me a call or send me an email.
All additive technical data are welcome...

| I just found I still have all the bits and pieces including the hubs for my 4 element cubical quad, that I built with the help of a mate in probably '79. All in good condition waiting to be used, so if the wife permits, it is going up again. I may have to put it way down the back yard but any attenuation on long coax at 11 metres won't be too much of a price to pay. Photos when I get it set up. |

As mentioned above, I began restoring the quad I built in '79.Since I now have an amateur radio licence, I am altering it to be a tri-bander 15/11/10m This won't be too difficult, as the spiders angle such that the spacing changes as the elements get longer. It won't be perfect for frequencies other than 11 meters, but it will be pretty close. The photos only show one hub (two elements), but the quad is 4 elements.
