Hi All,
well its taken a while but the 5 element Yagi is finally up.
The Antenna is a Werner Wolfe 5element Yagi modified from 6 m boom to 8 m long boom wide spaced. According to the design it has 8.13 dbd gain (freespace), 43db f/b rejection and 65 degree beamwith. This design also gives near on 1.5 mhz coverage at 1.5:1 SWR. This will allow me to use it on 10m in the future as well as at 28.490 mhz swr is still 1.6:1.
The antenna is mounted on a 3 stage push up pole at about 10 m. The support section is 7 m- 1m in ground, 40mm X 2.1mm square sections X 2 supported in a H pattern with flat steel. 4 with u bolt support for pole. All steel is galvanized as are all bolts.
Anyway I will let the pics show.
Hard too tell if it worked any better than my previous 3 element that was at 9 m on the interstate skip as conditions have been poor but I was finally able to hold conversation with a station 203 km away beam to beam on flat ground, (Bundaberg to Nanango) so the gain seems up a bit.
H support.
U clamp support 1 of 4.
no guy ropes to ground as per she who must be obeyed!
Swr.
something for the neighbors to look at.
