Hi all, in a couple of weeks time, I'll be living in my new location, just a couple of miles/kms from here at home.
It is at the back of a new housing estate, up on a high ridge.(158m/520ft) I managed to rent a great 4 br home on quite a few acres. My nearest neighbor is about 500m away down the other side of the ridge.
After arriving Saturday morning, (with a lawnmower & the radio equipment) I set about putting up the 1/2w vertical & setting up the radio gear in the empty lounge room.
The first thing I noticed was that the local stations were much stronger, with reports of a few more S points on my signal than usual. The props were quiet in the morning. I was busy most of Saturday afternoon, mowing the lawn. Then I went exploring around the property, checking out the dams, the creek & a couple of little forest glens.
I'll be back out at the property this coming weekend. I'll be taking out the dual drive yagi & setting it up with 4 elements. The 3 ele quad is also making the trip out, I'll be setting it up vertically polarized, mainly for talking local, but also for working props. At last I have a place where I can now GROW my antennas. The house yard is 1 acre, about 1/2 hectare. I'll be able to set up my antenna workshop under the veranda at the back of the house.
Stay tuned over the next coming weeks for more pictures & posts, as I start growing my antenna farm.
Here are a few pics of the house & surrounding yard. Plus the Eastly view of the valley from the back veranda.

Wow, looks great Pete. I am sure you will be happy with the DX from that location, and you will be able to let loose with antennas and also not worry about the TVI issues you have mentioned previously.
Great DX Shack, and buet home.
looking forward to hearing your station.
cheers. _________________ Dan 43SE137/ 43WR137/ 43FR137.

The 4 ele D/D Yagi is temporary up beside the house. I plan on moving it out into the yard about 6m (20ft) so I can put it up to the optimum height of 11m (36ft). It was too dangerous to put it up on the side of the house to any great height.
The performance is unbelievable. It has excellent back to front rejection, as well as a very sharp side rejection, especially for only a 4 ele yagi.
This is the radio bench with wheels, I can roll it out onto the veranda & DX in the sun. It is still in the development stage.
I'm in the process of setting up the radio room, pictures will be posted when the task is completed. _________________ 43SE144, Pete.

hey Pete,
The 4 element looks great, good to see your getting some conditions on it. I can see a 30ft windmill tower sitting on the hill there for sure.
good luck with the dx, see you around.
